Any childhood memories you would like to share with us?

I spent my childhood in a small village of Mangaldai, Assam. I remember one memory that I would never forget is my father singing to me a famous song by Bhupen Hazarika “Sagar Sagame”. This song has played a major role in my life as the song illustrates “the endless journey of a determined soul filled with hope in the search for peace.”

What is something you want to say about your family?

I lost my mother at an early age. My father raised me along with my siblings, I would spend my evenings doing household chores, and even I had to look after my young siblings also. I didn’t really have the childhood everyone dreams of.

Tell us something about your Personal life & Relationships?

I was in college when I met a boy with whom I fell in love for the first time. We soon got married. Later, my husband became a successful doctor and together we moved to a small town, where inter-caste marriage was still not accepted by many. Despite all the ridicules and challenges, I still managed to keep my family together and tried to be an amazing mother and a devoted wife.

However, these moments too were short-lived. My 16 years of marriage soon came to an end. After years of physical and emotional harassment, one day my husband brought home another woman and remarried in front of my own eyes in 2004. In the year 2007, I finally decided to say goodbye to the past and filed a divorce and moved on.
