Cape of Good Films, owned by actor Akshay Kumar, has sent a legal notice to veteran actor Paresh Rawal for walking out of the upcoming movie Hera Pheri 3. According to their lawyers, the actor suddenly left the project after filming had already started, and he had also accepted a part of his payment.

Legal Case Details

Law firm Parinam Law Associates, representing Cape of Good Films, confirmed that they are suing Paresh Rawal for ₹25 crore. According to their official statement, the actor had publicly confirmed his role in Hera Pheri 3 through a post on his X.com (formerly Twitter) account on January 30, 2025. He had also signed an agreement on March 27, 2025, and accepted ₹11 lakh as part of his payment.

The legal team said that after this, the production house began spending large sums of money for filming and promotions. Mr. Rawal even participated in shooting a teaser and was involved in planning with co-actors Akshay Kumar and Suniel Shetty.

Why Is Cape of Good Films Upset?

The production house is unhappy because Paresh Rawal left the film without any warning after all these investments were made. The teaser shoot started on April 3, 2025, and more than 3 minutes of footage had already been filmed with him. According to the legal team, Paresh Rawal never mentioned having any creative issues during the project.

Later, the actor claimed he left the project due to “creative differences,” but Cape of Good Films called this a false excuse. They believe his sudden decision has caused big financial losses and delayed the movie's schedule.

What Happens Next?

The production company has asked for ₹25 crore in damages. If Mr. Rawal does not respond within seven days, they plan to take further legal action—both civil and criminal. They also said they have the right to stop him from working on other projects that could affect this film and to hold him responsible for any loss caused to the team.

What Did Paresh Rawal Say?

"I want to make it clear that I did not leave Hera Pheri 3 because of any creative issues. Once again, I confirm that there is no creative disagreement with the director. I have great love, respect, and trust for Mr. Priyadarshan, the filmmaker." He did not give a clear reason at first, but later posted on X.com:

“I wish to put it on record that my decision to step away from Hera Pheri 3 was not due to creative differences. I want to make it clear again that I do not have any creative differences with the filmmaker. I hold immense love, respect, and faith in Mr. Priyadarshan the film director.”

Some reports say the actor simply did not feel like continuing with the project at this time. However, this news has deeply upset fans of the Hera Pheri franchise, who were excited to see the original cast return.

The Future of Hera Pheri 3

The shooting of Hera Pheri 3 began in April 2025 with Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, and Paresh Rawal in the lead roles. The film is being directed by Priyadarshan. Akshay Kumar is also the producer, as he has purchased the movie rights from Feroz Nadiadwala. It remains to be seen how the film will move forward and who will replace Paresh Rawal’s iconic character in the movie.
