The Diplomat - Story of courage of an Indian Intelligence Officer To save an Indian stuck In Pak
A gripping true story of courage and escape, The Diplomat shows Uzma Ahmed’s fight for freedom—now streaming on Netflix!

The Diplomat is a movie based on the real-life story of Uzma Ahmed, a young Indian woman who was tricked into going to Pakistan. There, she was forced to marry a man against her will and was kept like a prisoner. The film shows her brave fight to return home and the strong support she received from the Indian government.
The story is set in the beautiful but troubled area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in Pakistan. Behind the scenic mountains and valleys lies a harsh reality, where women often have no freedom and young boys are taught violence. Uzma finds herself trapped in this world, suffering abuse and fearing for her life.
Director Shivam Nair brings this true story to life with honesty and care. The film starts slowly but builds tension as Uzma looks for a chance to escape. When she finally reaches the Indian Embassy, the movie becomes a race against time. Indian diplomats, led by Deputy High Commissioner JP Singh (played by John Abraham), do everything they can to protect Uzma and bring her back to India.
The drama grows as Uzma’s husband, Tahir (played by Jagjeet Sandhu), and his allies try to stop her. Meanwhile, the Indian team must act fast because Uzma’s visa is about to expire. They also face pressure from Pakistan’s authorities, and the tense relationship between the two countries makes everything more difficult. One of the most exciting moments is when they drive her to the Wagah-Attari Border with enemies close behind.
The film does a good job of showing what life is like for women in such dangerous places. It doesn't over-dramatize things, but the fear and pain Uzma feels come through clearly. The script, written by Ritesh Shah, is simple but powerful.
John Abraham gives one of his best performances as a calm, smart, and caring diplomat. He brings both strength and quiet humor to the role, like when he says, “Yeh Pakistan hai, beta, yahan aadmi aur ghoda seedhi chaal nahi chalta” – meaning, in Pakistan, nothing moves in a straight line. Sadia Khateeb is excellent as Uzma, showing both her fear and her courage. Revathy plays Sushma Swaraj with warmth and dignity, and Kumud Mishra stands out as the kind and clever lawyer helping Uzma. Jagjeet Sandhu is chilling as the charming but violent husband.
John Abraham’s latest political thriller The Diplomat is now streaming on Netflix — and it’s a must-watch! Currently trending at No. 1, the film has been receiving rave reviews from viewers for its gripping of courage and escape where an Indian Intelligence Officer with his wit and courage save Uzma Ahmed from Pakistan.
