Sonakshi Sinha on Marriage with Zaheer Iqbal: “Religion Never Came Between Us”

Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha and actor Zaheer Iqbal tied the knot in June 2024 after dating for almost eight years. Their interfaith marriage sparked curiosity and conversations, but Sonakshi revealed that religion has never been a factor in their relationship.

In an interview, Sonakshi said that during their seven-year courtship, religion was never a topic of debate. Instead, they focused on mutual respect, understanding, and trust. She added that both families honor each other’s traditions, creating a bond of harmony and love.

“Religion is something that will never come in between the two of us. There’s never been tension or conflict about it, and I think that’s the most beautiful part. Our strength lies in respect,” Sonakshi shared.

She described Zaheer as the ideal son-in-law and someone who fits perfectly into her family.

“He’s 100% damad! Everyone gets excited when he comes home—my mom asks what he’ll eat, my dad loves spending time with him, and they’ve become great friends. Often, I just sit quietly while they chat,” she laughed.

Reflecting on her relationship, Sonakshi said:

“We always talk about finding someone to grow old with. But with Zaheer, I realized I found someone I can stay a child with. That laughter, that playfulness—ussi se hansi mazak barkarar rehta hai. It’s what I was missing in life, and now that it’s here, I couldn’t be happier.”

She has completed two films recently—her Telugu debut Jatadhara, set to release later this year, and another Hindi project where she explores a completely new role.
